The first we saw was a meaningful touch.
Today we look at the second ingredient: A spoken message of affection and love.
Dad, one of the best ways to build up your children is to tell them verbally how much they mean to you and how much you love them.
This is not as easy as it sounds. For many men this is like speaking a foreign language. They just don't get what's the big deal. We tend to reason that we show our love by bringing home the paycheck and putting food on the table and making sure they are safe, etc.
But our kids, both young and old, need to hear words coming from the man they most admire and love, their dads. Words that communicate clearly that they are loved, accepted, special, and important.
We find it much easier to say bad things to our kids but it is time for that to change.
Make an effort today, dad, to say something positive to your kids. They will really appreciate it.

Today's devo really spoke to my heart. It is so true that children need a spoken message of affection and love from their fathers and mothers no matter what age they are. I remember when my mother was about to pass on she told me that she loved me. I couldn't believe my ears. My mom had finally spoken the words I craved hearing all my life. I knew she loved me but somehow hearing those words outloud and from her own mouth was really indescribale. My heart almost burst with happiness. I try to tell my kids often that I'm proud of them and that I love them no matter what.
