Attributing a high value

From Sunday's message about Fathers.
According to Dr. Gary Smalley there are four ingredients that are needed in blessing our children as Isaac blessed Jacob.
The first ingredient was a meaningful touch.
The second ingredient was a spoken message of affection and love. Never underestimate the power of saying, "I love you" to your kids.

The third ingredient is attributing a high value. Isaac said to Jacob, "May God give you of heaven's dew and of earth's richness - an abundance of grain and new wine."

He's saying, "You are so special, so God will give you the best He has to give."

The best way to communicate value is by giving time and attention. So when a child comes to talk to you turn off the TV. Lay aside the paper and listen because they have so much that they are anxious to tell you. Get in the habit of listening when they have little things to say and when they have something important to say you won't miss it.

Dad, let your family know that they matter and that they are important. Make every effort to attribute a high value to them. You won't regret it.

This coming Sunday we will continue our series on Genesis. Bring the whole gang and worship the Lord as a family.
