Happy Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day! Today we celebrate Dad with his own special day. Really it ought to be called Home Depot day since I'm kinda hop'in for some gift cards from Home Depot. Like many dads I love tools and lumber so I can build something. Please not another tie or socks. It reminds me of Christmas when I was a kid and I would get something practical like underwear. It's just not fair. But I want to thank God for my father, Sam, who has already gone on to heaven. He taught me many things about life. He believed in working hard. He always had money in his pocket. He loved his wife and took time out to discipline us when we really needed it. We were never poor and if we were we never knew it. I was the youngest of nine children so he had plenty of mouths to feed but I don't remember not having enough to eat or wearing a lot of hand-me-downs because my dad provided for all of us. But the most important thing he taught me was to love the Lord and always pay my tithes and don't miss out on prayer service. I still remember when the Spirit of the Lord would come upon my dad. He would be so moved and he would cry and I would cry just seeing what God would do to his heart and life. I miss my dad and I take the time out often to thank the Lord for him but especially today on Father's Day. If you still have your dad please tell him how much he means to you and how much you love him because truth be told you wont have him forever.

What a beautiful and loving tribute to a wonderful father. When you spoke about not wanting another tie or socks I had to laugh. It reminded me of a Christmas morning growing up. My siblings and I pressed my dad to hurry up and get up so we could see him open his presents. It made me laugh when he said,"what for it's the same old stuff...I'll tell you right now without opening them what they are. Gloves, flashlight, socks, underwear." My mom grunted all annoyed. You mentioned your father being so moved by the Spirit of the Lord he would cry. I have never seen my father cry even once. Not even when my mom died. This week has been a pretty awful week for him. No matter what kind of dad he was, I'm going to call him and wish him a Happy Father's Day.
Happy Father's Day! I love you very much and am so blessed to call you dad.
YOU ROCK!
